Yeah, that works well.

We could *maybe* use him as a mascot, but the Tux and the tree works
just as well. Probably better, unless we name the thing Dr Tux's LKB.

Yep

What do you want it to look like?

That would be bad. :-) The smallest picture is 18K, and for good eye
animations we'd have to have at least three frames, making a 54K GIF.
That alone takes us over the 50K I think we should shoot for. And I
usually find animated GIFs annoying. In fact, maybe I'm weird, but if a
page has an animated GIF on it, I habitually bang on the Escape key
until it stops! I guess it's mostly due to old versions of Netscape
that continually thrashed my HD with animated GIFs, even with my 64MB
RAM. NS 4.5 isn't as bad, but I'm still in the habit of doing it. :-)

My thoughts:

What's with the white area on the right side of the tree with #1 and
#2? It looks a bit out of place.

The land part of the background in #3 and #4 is spooky. :-)

This would NOT make a good logo. Logos should be simple and usable for
many different things. Any sort of picture doesn't cut it. If we want
this theme in a logo, I'd suggest a simple Tux and a book under a
cartoon-style palm tree (ala Far Side). No fancy background, no fancy
tree leaves, just a simple drawing.

The pictures generally look good, and if they're not our primary logo,
then they'll make a nice addition to the web site.

Do you guys have experience setting up Apache authentication? I know a
bit about it, so i could possibly help.

I think all we'd need is just have one username and password for the Web
stuff. Using /etc/passwd for authentication is generally not a good
idea.

Sweet!
