Pingus

Welcome

What is Pingus?

Pingus is a free Lemmings clone for GNU/Linux, a Windows port is also available, covered under the GPL. Pingus uses ClanLib, which should make it portable some operating systems, including Beos, BSD, Windows and some more, but it will currently not compile on big-endian machines (PPC). Pingus is mainly developed under GNU/Linux, it has an actively maintained Windows port, but the ports to the other OS's might be out of date or not available. If you want to get it working under some of the other mentioned operating systems, you have to get sources. It should be mainly just a recompile (along with some simple work arounds).

Under GNU/Linux it is possible to run it under X or in the console using the framebuffer device. You can play it in a window or in full screen using DGA if you run it under X.

How far is it? Is it playable?

Well, partly. The game is not completely finished and there are not many playable levels, but the basic game engine is ready. So the game in its current state should be enough for some hours of fun.

I want to contribute, do you need my help?

Of course, contribution is always welcome. Especially level designers are needed (a nice level editor is available). Programmers and sound creators are also very welcome. See the developers section for more information.
