I can remember a similar incident with 4xxx CMOS ff I was breadboarding ~20-odd years ago. Sheer grief. The CMOS edge driven clock would generate errors if it wasn't clocked fast enough. I was trying to clock it with a passive r/c delay. Not a chance. I put a schmidt buffer between the passives & ck to fix it. relevant? who knows... -- Greg
