gEDA-user: Tarball leftovers

Strange, I am not able to remover all the tarball stuff.  I have 
Geda-gschem-1.2.0/src   empty and
libgeda-1.2.1/scr also empty.

using rmdir returns "not empty" and putting them in the Ubuntu trash
(that's where I first hit the snag) is not able to empty the trash.  I
got rid of most of it by selectively deleting parts of the trash.  I
guess it's not dangerous only annoying.  Any suggestions?
