Look at the "gschlas" program

gschlas -h
Usage: gschlas [OPTIONS] filename1 ... filenameN
  -e            Embed all components/pictures
  -u            Unembed all components/pictures
  -q            Quiet mode
  -v            Verbose mode on
  -h            This message

It should do what you want - although I've not used it myself.
