Up until recently (recent CVS versions), the default focus is on the
component list. Since your not likely to have the categories expanded,
the text you input does nothing. If you expand some categories, like
"linear" etc.., as you type, it should jump you to a component beginning
with that name.

I thought focusing Filter by default would be a good idea too, and
Werner implemented it on 2006-12-18.
