There are plenty of online articles about soldering SMT parts by hand;
add the terms "hoof" and "drag" to your search to find the relevent
ones for low-tech soldering tools.

You'll probably want at least a heat-regulated soldering iron, but you
shouldn't need the expensive rework tools.  Or you can invest in a
cheap toaster oven or electric hot plate to reflow solder.
