gEDA-user: limiting smd to one side of the board

After a trying a lot of googling and reading manuals, I would like to know if pcb's "Auto Place Selected Elements" could be limited to keeping SMD parts on one side of the board.

That is, when I select a number of parts and go "Auto Place Selected Elements", I don't want the SMD parts to move to the other side of the board.
