Yes. There is already a gnetlist back end that can generate equations
for symbolic circuit analysis in Mathematica: take a look at http://
noqsi.com/images/gEDAmath.nb.pdf
This might be a good place to start for an Octave back end (it's
usually easier to modify an existing back end than write one from
scratch), and I think an Octave back end is a great idea. One of the
wonderful things about gEDA is its radical export capability: it
plays well with all kinds of tools in all kinds of flows. I think
gEDA users are more likely to use a free tool like Octave than a
pricey tool like Mathematica. The gnetlist back end is just the
start: the real fun will come from making the Octave part easy and
effective.
