gEDA-dev: Fate of "generic_text_input dialog" in x_dialog.c

Hi All,

I am curious about the departed "generic_text_input dialog"
functions which used to live in geda-gscheme/src/x_dialog.c.
If I am not mistaken, did Dan McMahill create them and
decide not to use them? Or someone else did?  Does anyone
know the reason for their creation and not-used later on?
