the analysis is new, but the measure tool has been there for a long time

You should get a box at the center of the part with a dot showing 
rotation.  Is that what you see?  Keep in mind that the xy file only has 
center and rotation for the parts and knows nothing about an outline.

hmmmm.  I wonder if we should spit out a width/length for a bounding box 
for each part in pcb.  I guess that could be somewhat problematic for 
non-rectangular parts, but it might be a good way to get an assembly 
drawing.
