 	Hmmm.  I just tried something similar (moved away
guile-config but did not get rid of the dev m4 macros) and got:

checking for XML::Parser... ok
checking for guile... /usr/bin/guile
checking for guile-config... no
configure: error: guile-config required but not found
make: *** [libgeda/config.h] Error 1

	I guess what you see is somewhat expected since we use GUILE_FLAGS
to find guile and guile-config.
