Some other things got in the way, but I've finally managed to sit down
and take a closer look at this bug.

It turns out it's the same problem as I fixed a while ago with
autoscroll. Somebody didn't read my comment in
ghid_port_window_leave_cb() regarding window leave and enter events.

Anyway, this patch also fixes bug #1882970 for me. It also adds some
checks to the HideCrosshair and RestoreCrosshair and Peter's comments
about these functions.
