Dear all,

Just a quick email to let people know that I'm currently without my
laptop - dodgy power adaptor, dodgy "fix", now it appears the DC input
of the laptop motherboard is fried.

Fortunately it was still working on remaining battery power when I
switched it off, so "might" be fixable. Several dozen screws and hidden
clips later, I'm now playing guess the charred component.

If needs be, I'll bite the bullet and buy another laptop so I can focus
on getting back to work.
