Thanks for the report, I updated the Cygwin build instructions in the 
gEDA docs: http://geda.seul.org/wiki/geda:cygwin

At the same time, I removed the warning against guile-1.8 (gEDA/gaf 
seems to be fine with it in Cygwin, nowadays).
