I was at home yesteday when I looked at your patches... which suggests
that it might be the ftp response connection not getting through the
firewall. Easily solved... I'll try again at home ;)

If it works, I might talk to our sysadmin, but this is a system where
all IRC ports are blocked explicitly - so I won't hold my breath.
