This isn't a bad idea at all. At the very least, I'm hoping to untangle
various functionality so it _could_ be made separate if desired.

No reason to wait.. there is plenty of core which needs API tidying
before plugins could even think about being used with gschem / libgeda.
(To name one).

My aim was to make things like the page-browser I hacked together some
time back, and things like component managers / placers workable as
plugins, then we could get people to experiment more with component
management.
