I think Ales' worry, if memory serves, is that there are enough
bug reports already without a flood of "dumb" complaints from
less sophisticated Windows users. There's a thread along those
lines somewhere back there in the archives. The crux was, if my
memory serves, that if there are overly convenient Windows binaries,
the flood gates will open and the bugs database will be flooded
with messages like, "It's broke! Please fix soon."

For the record, Icarus Verilog has a point-and-click windows
installer that is maintained by a volunteer, and I haven't been
flooded (by Windows users) yet;-) But then again, Icarus Verilog
is less of a porting challenge.
