When I try and use a non-executable command I get the following in the log 
window:

Library command failed [/home/peter/Projects/geda/cmdlib-test.sh list]: Failed 
to execute child process "/home/peter/Projects/geda/cmdlib-test.sh" 
(Permission denied)

Is that not good enough?
