I'll help where I can - certainly (like the other developers) I can
answer questions about where to look for things in the code, and how
stuff works. (gEDA that is, not so much the simulator side of things).
I'm very keen on seeing your project taken up. There are lots of UI and
integration improvements which should come along with this project -
adding a lot of value to the project.
When the next FreeEDA (aka FreeDOG) or code-sprint is advertised, it
would be great to have you come along and we can all discuss ideas.
As an aside:
Next academic year, Cambridge Univ. Engineering Department will be using
gEDA + PCB for students to lay out their own boards for a robot design
project. This potentially means 1/3 of all undergrads (those who do the
electrical part), will have exposure to these tools. The project also
has links to MIT - but I'm not sure how much of it transfers across.
Of course, students are free not to use gEDA + PCB, but I expect most
will give it a try... we'll give them a head start on partial schematics
and board layouts to begin with.
It would be lovely if simulation was integrated enough to make simple
verification of analog designs. (There is only so much you can teach in
a tightly scheduled 4 week project, and not all students will be
comfortable with the unix shell.)
Kind regards,
