Hi,

I want to participate as a student in google Summer of Code 2007, but
I would like to know if my idea is good for gEDA and if there is any mentor
interessed.

My Idea is for Free Hardware tools. At University, I worked in a
project developing hardware modules using the SystemC language (it is
a open source implementation based on C++ class libraries that
provides hardware-oriented constructs) and one of things very mechanic
is when we need to rewrite a new struct for the testbench for every
modules in the pipeline.
The idea is to build an automatic unit test system generator for any
kind of hardware module that uses SystemC.
The user will give the name of ports and type (In, out, clock... ),
choose a template for the testbench (to test a processor, decoder ... )
and a standard of handshake (like OCP-IP - Open Core Protocol), then
the program will generate a struct of the testbench automatically.
Instead of Systemc, I can do it in VHDL or Verilog (I like the Open
SystemC Initiative). What language would be better?

I know that the initiatives in the subject of Open Source Hardware
still very modest. but I think it is maybe a good idea to begin to
incentive more this area.
Anyone have any tip about this issue ?

Thanks,

André Costa
