gEDA-dev: GEDA Development

Hi everyone

I've been watching the gEDA project for a fee years now and would be 
quite interested in getting actively involved with the development of 
geda,  I'm interesting in trying to redesign the UI of both gschem and 
pcb. 

Can any one give me any information no how about to get started fiddling 
arounf the geda?

Are there any documents detailing gEDA's design, build procedures ?

What IDE (if any) is used ?
