I think this is pretty important as well.  Unless you are in the know, 
having read the source code or been referred to this feature by another 
designer, this useful feature just doesn't exist.  It needs either to be 
documented in the manuals or present in a pull-down menu so people can 
come across it naturally.  I voted for having a menu and shortcut key 
for overbarring signal names.  See feature request 1704923 on the gEDA
