I've not done it systematically with scripts...just hit or miss.
There's always a lull before layout gets rolling to document new parts
as symbols and footprints.  I doubt anyone's way ahead of you
in that range of tidyness -- having all their components ready before the
feature list and simulations are done...

While you're being tidy, how about caps and inductors in  1206, 0603 sizes
for making baluns and antenna taps...
