In the special case of a graphical with pins with net= attributes, it  
uses them. Otherwise no. Pinless graphicals are used as title blocks,  
and I use pinned graphicals as graphical "comments" sometimes, for  
example placing the symbol for a subcircuit in the subcircuit  
schematic for reference. Of course, that trick uses graphical=1 on  
the instance, not in the symbol itself.

But you've now shown how Stuart is right here: you can *also* use a  
graphical to make hierarchical connections, at least to a unique  
subcircuit. Yet another way to do hierarchy. Another example of  
gEDA's radical flexibility.

Depends on what you're trying to do. Radical flexibility...
