Ah... of course, since I've not got CVS access, I can't "cvs add" the new 
file, and "cvs diff" doesn't include it.

You can find x_compselect.c at:

www2.eng.cam.ac.uk/~pcjc2/x_compselect.c


This contains much of the older stuff now removed from x_fileselect.c.
