I've uploaded the glade file to the tracker.

I've made some modifications to the code after it was generated by
Glade. Today I tried to put them back into the glade file so I think it
should now be in sync with the C code in x_autonumber.c I uploaded last
time but it's possible I missed something.

I would vote for "selection" and "selection" in the scope settings.

I mostly use autonumber dialog for numbering nets in a bus. I usually
use "refdes=*" numbering only once per schematics while the net
numbering is much more common. On the other hand the dialog now
remembers its state so I guess the default is pretty irrelevant in my case.

I haven't used automatic slotting yet, but I guess it would make sense
this way.
