No. I currently use four EDA packages on Linux, for ASIC and FPGA design 
and verification, and I have previously used at least 6 others. No 
dependencies. No complex installs. Run a script and you're done. You 
don't even have to be root. This is how professional software is written 
and distributed.

I can figure out the dependencies, and I'm sure you can. But you've 
missed the point. Are you writing gEDA for people who have the time, 
inclination, and the ability to figure out dependencies? And the freedom 
to install any distribution that they want? If so, then you're doing 
just fine. If not, then you need to stop and think again.
