LOL!  You've just proven my point!  Just knowing which version of
which package is the most recent is beyond the ken of even a Linux
power user!    *chuckle*

If you can't figure it out, how can the ordinary user?

I track the gEDA releases and keep the current stuff on the CD.  The
vision is One easy download with no worrying about what is the latest
package, what dependencies are required, and so on.  If somebody else
wants to do that work and has a better scheme to make it happen, I'll
gladly step aside, or at least make room for their efforts.

But it's not enough to offer opinions on the mailing list.  It's
actually getting the work done which is of essence.
