No, they will be updated when doing a "make dist".

If you only like to update you're .po file it's ok to do a
"make update-po" in the po dir.

If you're using the cvs with noweb files this may work.

The new plain c cvs will not work, as the noweb/rcstrings.nw is missing 
in the src/.. dir and the po/POTFILES.in is refering to noweb/

Note: the strings from the menu are special. I guess you have to write 
it manually into the rcstrings.nw/c file.
