Initial Comment:
The cursor keys work for panning left/right and up/down.  It would be useful if the PgUp/PgDn keys also worked for larger amounts of panning.

I imagine mapping PgUp to pan-page-up and shift-PgUp to pan-page-left.  Similarily PgDn to pan-page-down and shift-PgDN to pan-page-right.
