I had no trouble with the .zip on my linuxbox and had no ^M problem either...
Not that I not prefer .tar.gz's ;-)
One more thing I did change the #! to #!/usr/bin/env python2
as I have both python and python2 installed. I think this is recommended
practice for any python2 script as python2 is not backwards compatible
(think += and friends).
