I'm probably doing something blatantly wrong...
/usr/src/home: pcb-bin
Warning: Actions not found: Quit
stdin:1: m4: Cannot open
/usr/local/geda/share/pcb//usr/local/geda/share/pcb/ListLibraryContents.sh %p %f: No such file or directory
illegal fileformat
Can't find font-symbol-file
'/usr/local/geda/share/pcb//usr/local/geda/share/pcb/ListLibraryContents.sh '%p' '%f''
pcb-menu.res: No such file or directory
Warning: Actions not found: Quit

[snip more of the same]
I've done
$ xrdb ~/.Xresources
followed by
$ xrdb -merge /usr/local/geda/share/pcb/Pcb
and I even get this:
$ appres Pcb |grep geda.share
Pcb.menuFile: /usr/local/geda/share/pcb/pcb-menu.res
Pcb.elementPath: .:/usr/local/geda/share/pcb/newlib:packages:circuits:/usr/local/geda/share/pcb:/usr/local/geda/share/pcb/circuits:/usr/local/geda/share/pcb/packages
Pcb.fontPath: .:/usr/local/geda/share/pcb
Pcb.libraryCommand: /usr/local/geda/share/pcb/QueryLibrary.sh '%p' '%f' %a
Pcb.libraryContentsCommand: /usr/local/geda/share/pcb/ListLibraryContents.sh '%p' '%f'
Pcb.libraryPath: .:/usr/local/geda/share/pcb
Pcb.libraryTree: /usr/local/geda/share/pcb/newlib
so it all seems to be there in X's mind, and pcb-menu.res really really
is in /usr/local/geda/share/pcb. Look:
$ ls -l /usr/local/geda/share/pcb/pcb-menu.res
- -rw-r--r-- 1 source user 16798 Feb 3 23:26 /usr/local/geda/share/pcb/pcb-menu.res
Even when I strace -f -F pcb-bin the only time I see pcb-menu.res is
when it looks in my $HOME. And even when I copy pcb-menu.res there, I
still get those doubly-prefixed pathnames. What am I doing wrong?
TIA & HAND

I've generally found that the fastest way to get the right answer on the net
is to confidently assert the answer you believe to be right; those who know
will immediately correct you, while if you just ask, often no answers arrive.
All it requires is a willingness to look bad on occasion.
